There is exciting news for Nothing users. The brand has started dropping teasers in India, and they all point to a new budget handset — almost certainly the Nothing Phone 4b. The latest clip shows off that famous see-through back and, crucially, just one rear camera. Teasers this frequent usually mean a launch is close, so let’s dig into what we actually know.
KEY POINTS
- A new “(b)usted” teaser hints heavily at a Nothing Phone 4b.
- It’s got a transparent back and a single rear camera.
- Looks like the start of a fresh budget “b” series in India.
- Price chatter lands somewhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000.
- A proper launch could be just weeks away.
What’s Actually Been Teased?
It started small. Nothing’s global account posted a cryptic “(b)” and let everyone speculate. Then Nothing India piled in with a short video cheekily captioned “(b)usted” — and this one actually shows the phone. 91 Mobiles clocked the details first: a sketch of a handset with the trademark transparent rear, internals on show, the works. The giveaway? Right at the end, you see pencils marked “2b”, “3b” and “5b”, with the “4b” one lit up. Not exactly being coy, is it?

The Single Camera Hype
The thing that caught everyone’s eye. Most recent Nothing phones have two or more lenses. This one? Just a single rear camera. To me, that screams “budget”, and honestly, it’s not a new idea for the brand. Way back before the original Phone (1), Carl Pei was going on about how one or two good cameras beat a pile of decorative lenses that add nothing. Feels like Nothing’s going back to basics — and good on them.
The Cancelled CMF Link
Now for the juicy bit. Only days before all this, Nothing pulled the plug on the CMF Phone 3 Pro. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis didn’t dodge it either — he blamed memory prices. India Today ran his explanation word for word: “We were working on a successor, but with memory prices where they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF,” he wrote.
He added, “As a result, we’ve decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year.” But here’s the kicker. Gadgets 360 reports that CMF has quietly shifted its existing phone projects over to Nothing. So that cancelled CMF mobile? It might just be reborn as the Phone 4b.
Pokémon Names, Because of Course
If you follow Nothing, you’ll know they hide new gadgets behind Pokémon codenames. Two have surfaced lately — Blastoise and Jumpluff. Blastoise is tipped as the next Nothing phone (spot the “b”?), which lines it up nicely as the Phone (4b). Jumpluff, meanwhile, is rumoured to be the Nothing Ear 3a, following on from the Ear a.

What the Leakers are Whispering
Old CMF Phone 3 Pro leaks talked up nicer materials, a metal frame and a redesigned camera module. On the internals, AndroidHeadlines tipped a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip and a chunky 5,500 mAh battery. And tipster Yogesh Brar reckons the whole thing now lands under the Nothing name, with an India launch lined up for next month. Fingers crossed.
Where It Fits — and the Price Question
So, where does a “4b” sit? The London-based lot already sells the main phone line and the mid-range “(a)” series, so a “b” branch would be the cheap, entry-level one. Design-wise, think flat back and rounded corners, a lot like the Phone 4a. Price is the main focus. Nothing’s most affordable phone right now, the Phone (3a) Lite, started at Rs 20,999 – but thanks to rising memory and component costs, it’s now selling for comfortably over Rs 25,000. Money Control suggests the 4b could land around the Rs 25,000 mark.
Get it nearer Rs 20,000, though, and it’s a genuine steal for a phone that looks like nothing else. From another perspective: Nothing rolled out the Phone 4a and 4a Pro in India on 5 March at Rs 31,999 and Rs 39,999 for the 8GB + 128GB models, respectively. Carl Pei has also said there’s no new flagship coming this year, so the brand’s clearly aiming lower for now.
Nothing Phone 4b will be Launched Soon
Everything’s pointing to “soon”. There’s already a dedicated “b” series microsite live on Flipkart, which all but confirms India’s getting it. Add the teasers, the leaked design and that retail page, and you don’t need to be a genius to see where the situation is heading. My take? If you’re looking for a cheap phone right now, hold off. The Nothing Phone 4b looks like it’s almost here — and going by all the evidence, it won’t stay under wraps much longer.
